Bible Spirit World

Bible Spirit World
The Christian Bible, which is one of God’s inspired recorded records of His dealing with the human race of people in the material, or physical realm, also is a mystical revelation of the Spirit World. The study of this recorded revelation is a challenge to materialism, which has always denied spiritual realms.

We, as human beings, live in the “natural” world; out fleshly bodies being the dividing veils to the Spirit world, which is in the realm WHERE God lives. The same Spirit world, is referred to in the Bible as “Heavenlies.” God allows other created spirit beings to exist in the Heavenlies, also. These Spirit beings are of two classes, good and evil. They are described in the Bible as angels. The word “angel” is formed from the Greek word “aggelos”, which represents the Hebrew “mal’ak” and though now restricted to super human beings, had originally the general meaning of “messenger.”

Theses Biblical Angels which are good, consist of “Seraphim” and “Cherubim.” The bad angels are referred to as “Principalities, Powers, Rulers of Darkness, Wicked Spirits” (Ephesians 6:12), “Thrones, Dominions (Col.1:16), “Fallen Angels” (2nd Peter 2:4), “Spirits in Prison” (1st Peter 3:18-20), “Demons, Seducing Spirits (1st Timothy 4:1). The word “demon” comes from the Greek word “daimon”, meaning a “spirit, or genius”, one of a class of beings supposed to occupy a place of midway between gods and men.

Human beings are also spirits, who ;live in the fleshly bodies and contain souls, which might be described as the personal intellect of each person, of traits resulting by their particular education, cultural heritage, etc. This paper will only briefly touch on the human nature, in order to describe the nature of the human spirit, as this could easily contain another separate paper, which is the study of “Anthropology”, which is the Scientific study of human beings and their physical, social, material, and cultural development. It can be certain, however, that in examining what the Bible has to say about the Spirit world, the spirit of man is different than the soul, because we are told in Hebrews 4:12, “For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing as under of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, as is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The Apostle Paul referred to man’s spirit as “the inner man.”

To distinguish all the spirits listed in the Bible besides God, we might list them as follows: Cherubim (Genesis 3:24; Ezekiel 1:5-28; 8:1-4; 10:1-22); Seraphim (Isaiah 6:1-7); Arch-Angels, or chief angels who rule kingdoms and planets (Col. 1:15-18; 1st Thess. 4:16; Jude 9). Gabriel, who stands before God, (Daniel 8:16-19; 9:20-23; 10:8-11; Luke 1:19-26) also, unnamed princes of Persia and Grecia are referred to in (Daniel 10:13; 11:1; Rev. 11:7; 17:8.) The Bible describes spirit animals shaped like the fleshly ones we have on earth, (Romans 1:20; 2nd Cor. 12:1-4; 2nd Kings 2:11-12; 6:13-17; Zech.1:8-11; 6:1-8; Rev. 19:11-21). It also talks about “living creatures, or “Zoa”, ( Revelations 4:5-6; 6:1-8;7:11; 14:3, 9-11; 15:7; 19:4). There are also demon locusts (Rev. 9:1-11) and demon horsemen, (Rev. 9:12-21).

Therefore, the Bible is a collections of writings written by humans, inspired by God through mystical revelations to man, describing the spirit world, as well as a the physical world. The words “spirit” and “spirits” are used 540 times on the Bible. From these references, 294 Scriptures containing “angel” and “angels” are found, and from over 20,000 others about God, Who is a Spirit!

So, the Spirit world would mean the various kinds of spirit beings that inhabit the unseen material worlds in space and under the earth, (Philippians 2:10; Rev. 5:3, 13.).
